Isn’t there already enough devilish energy going around these days? So why not name our eggs for someone we love instead? You may have read some of the recent posts about my beloved garden mentor, Angelo Pellegrini who first taught my daughter how to harvest garden produce. I don’t think he’d mind my naming our eggs after him!
Sunset magazine credited Angelo with having brought pesto to the US from his homeland in Tuscany. I’m not sure what he’d think of my using wild nettles instead of basil, but after the first taste, it would surely be a “Yes!”
Rose introduced to me through Facebook that her remarkable mother Alana Lea was planning this I am so very delighted to see this developed. I have friend a 13 year old young man that is helping me in my veggie garden once a week again this year and has advanced in his love for gardening since he started the age of 10. We were just talking about the harvesting of Nettle in Point Roberts, Washington and the neighboring islands of Vancouver, B.C.. He will love this and I have forwarded it to him. I also have another 14 year old that comes occasionally to do some the the heavier work and how keen he in on learning everything in the garden from the herbal garden to floral/fauna and fruit trees. Also two teenage girls that occasionally come to help me weed in my Irish/English style Garden around my home, I am blessed to have this wonderful youthful exciting energy in my garden as a 85 years avid gardener. Congratulations on this success!
How wonderful to see you here Nancy! Yes, there’s a great nettle patch on Roosevelt Way, right along the borderline! Hopefully it hasn’t been sprayed.
